CODE41 project

In March 2016, a mysterious team of cowboys, known only as the GOLDGENA PROJECT, began sowing the seeds of doubt in the hushed world of Swiss watchmaking by exposing the secrets of the Swiss Made label.

That made some people very unhappy, but others, many others, have joined us. Today is the day that we, along with our community of 15,000 registered members and 50,000 followers, launch CODE41: a community brand with the aim of creating attractive mechanical watches at reasonable prices, through a policy of complete transparency on origin, costs and development.

The CODE41 is run by a small watch design workshop called cosanova, and is currently made up of 3 people. Founded in 2005 by the designer Claudio D’Amore, the workshop is based in the heart of Swiss watchmaking, in Lausanne, not far from Geneva. In little more than 11 years, the cosanova workshop has had the honor of working with around forty watch brands, such as Tag Heuer, Parmigiani, Montblanc, Oris, Eberhard and even Hautlence.

Born in Switzerland to Italian parents, in 2000 Claudio D’Amore (40) graduated from the ECAL (Lausanne Design School) with an HES degree in design. He then set off for London to work with Ross Lovegrove, the famous London-based designer, where he worked on the design of several watches for Tag Heuer (V4, Carrera Caliber 360, Golf Watch). Upon his return to Switzerland in 2005, he founded cosanova.

“I love watchmaking because it is so wonderfully useless. New technology becomes more powerful every day, allowing us to go about our lives quicker. By being permanently connected, we are disconnecting from ourselves. Today, true luxury is the privilege of being able to take a moment for oneself, and to succeed in marveling at little everyday things. In this sense, contemplating the magic of mechanical movement represents the pinnacle of luxury.” Claudio D’Amore

owners club

You are much more than a customer; you are at the heart of CODE41. You can vote, give your opinion and even get more involved if you want to.

We decided to create the Owners Club space to highlight your contribution and to allow you to exchange views with other CODE41 owners, sharing your passion with other watches.

As we are still in the early stages of development of our brand, we will be establishing the Owners Club once the first batches of watches have been delivered and the first members are able to share their experience.

Thanks for your patience!

Companies like Airbnb and Uber show us just how powerful the collaborative economy is, and we believe that this phenomenon is only going to grow stronger. You’ve been at the center of our project since the very beginning, and now we’d like to get you even more involved and to share our success with you.

What if you could earn money by wearing your favorite watch and speaking about your passion? Wouldn’t that be cool? In a few days you will receive a personalized code in your account, which you will be able to share with your family and friends by email, on your social networks, or simply in conversation. If one of your contacts places an order, you will be entitled to a commission of up to 20% depending on your status.

international guarantee

Your CODE41 watch was manufactured according to the highest standards of quality. It has been individually tested to ensure its impermeability and perfect functionality.

An international guarantee covers any manufacturing defect during the first 24 months from the date of purchase.

The product is considered to be defective if it is found to be damaged upon receipt, or if a manufacturing defect is reported in compliance with and within the period of validity of the guarantees associated with the product in question. Please note that items damaged as a result of abnormal use will not be considered to be defective.

The guarantee is void in the following cases:

  • Damage caused by standard wear and tear and aging of the product.
  • Damage resulting from non-compliant assembly.
  • Damage resulting from maintenance, repair or disassembly not performed by a CODE41-approved after-sales service center.
  • Damage resulting from non-compliant use, poor treatment, abuse, negligence, recklessness, deterioration caused by the use of products in improper conditions such as severe impact, crushing, rough handling of the clasp, etc.
  • Damage sustained during transport and delivery.
  • Damage caused by humidity which may have been entered the watch following mishandling (e.g. crown incorrectly locked).
  • Any watch with evidence of physical damage to the glass or case middle.
  • Missing proof of purchase (receipt, proof of payment, etc.)
  • The series number engraved on the case is illegible or forged.
  • The guarantee does not cover straps, glass or batteries.

It is emphasized that any CODE41 advertising campaigns or promotions (by their nature intended to highlight the esthetic and innovative character of CODE41 products, and which may sometimes depict CODE41 products in unusual situations or conditions of use) must not be considered as examples of the normal use of CODE41 products which could be claimed as such by the end user. It is therefore clear that the CODE41 guarantee will be limited to cases of defects which only occur following the normal and regular use expected of a watch.

If your watch is defective upon delivery or you discover a fault within the 2 year guarantee period following deliver, you may return the product for repair.

In order to activate your guarantee, send an email to with the full details of your order (surname, first name, order number, email, etc.) to identify yourself and then return the defective item in accordance with the procedure which will have been explained to you by CODE41 customer service.

Upon analysis of the claims made in your request to return a defective product, we reserve the right to refuse your request for legitimate reasons (guarantee period expired, fault no covered by guarantee, improper use of the product, etc.).

Under the conditions of the guarantee, we offer to repair or replace defective items wherever possible. If the item cannot be replaced or repaired, and if said item is no longer available, you will then be entitled to a full refund.

Your CODE41 watch is fitted with a mechanical movement featuring automatic rewinding. Thanks to the oscillating weight, each movement of your wrist recharges the mechanism. When the watch is not worn, it has a power reserve of around 40 hours (at full charge).
IMPORTANT: Sometimes your everyday movement is not enough to completely recharge the mechanism. It can also be recharged manually by turning the crown approximately 40 times in a
clockwork direction.

We chose the ETA and MIYOTA mechanical movements for their impressive robustness and reliability. All of our watches have been set with the greatest of precision, but a deviation of a few seconds per day is absolutely normal. (Up to +/- 60 sec/day)

WARNING: To ensure that your watch is watertight, the crown must be correctly locked (position 1)
Your CODE41 watch is watertight to a depth of 50m, in conformance with the standard ISO 22810:2010. It can be used for activities in shallow water such as swimming in a pool or in open water. In contrast, it must not be used for scuba diving, waterskiing or other activities involving rapid currents or deep immersion.

It is recommended that your mechanical movement be serviced every 2 to 3 years.

Over time and according to the geographical area in which you live, your watch’s gaskets may deteriorate. It is therefore recommended that you check the impermeability annually. A watchmaker can replace the defective seals if necessary.

Swiss Made watches are renowned and appreciated around the world for their high quality. As we have seen, it is not Swiss manufacturing that makes these pieces unique, as a significant majority of the components comes from Asia. So then what is it?

Switzerland knows how to coordinate Swiss and foreign talent like no other country. It has high standards in terms of quality and aesthetics, and knows how to create heritage and prestigious brands that the whole world wants to be a part of.

We our watches in a transparent manner. To accomplish this we have created the TTO label: Total Transparency on Origin. A kind of identity card will be attached to each of our watches and made available online. It will feature a very precise indication of each element and operation of the manufacturing process.

A platform has been created to enable anyone to consult the identity card of each model. In actual fact this platform is open to all brands; Swiss, Chinese, or Martian. The only rule is transparency. To be completely honest we do not anticipate a great deal of demand; transparency is not – how can we put it? – very trendy.
